Sisterhood Memories: Baking Apple Crisp

Today, Emma and I made a delicious apple crisp together. It was fun to bake together and will be a memory that I will enjoy entertaining someday when we aren't together all of the time. The apple crisp was warm, sweet, and had a nice thread of cinnamon wafting throughout the dish. Served with vanilla ice cream, this would taste absolutely amazing! We ate it with pumpkin ice cream, and it was still extremely delicious. Very harvesty.

If you would like the recipe for this tasty crisp, here is the link. This crisp is super easy to make, so anyone could make this. Have a blessed day!

Commedia del Arte

Today, I performed in a fall showcase for my acting class. The class I took was Commedia del Arte, and it was so much fun! It's a special kind of acting, because it's totally improvised. There is no script, but we do know what we have to say in each scene and what the plot line is. Professional actors in Commedia only know the plot. Commedia del Arte was popular during the Italian Renaissance, and uses the same characters in each play (which are referred to as stock characters). My character's name was Columbina, a servant to the female love interest in the play, Isabella. Columbina is kind of sassy and is a strong female character. I had so much fun acting as her! Here is the crazy makeup and the outfit that I wore as Columbina.

I hope you enjoyed reading about Commedia del Arte!

Emma Makes Her Bed in a Surprising Place...

My sister Emma has been kind of sick for the past few days. And this morning, she wanted to stay cuddly in her bed, but I came into our bedroom and turned on the lights. She ended up moving into my mom and dad's bathroom tub! She put her pillows and blanket in the tub, and when she realized that the sun was shining in her face, she propped a pillow in the window to block the light. Ok, I was the one who propped the pillow, but still! It was so funny, I had to take some pictures and a video.:)

Cuddling!

Hiding in there somewhere...

Now she is seriously hiding!

The pillow in the window

The darkness in the window is the pillow

I apologize for the poor quality of this video. I have an old version of the iPhone, and it doesn't have the best quality of a camera. And I flipped the camera around a couple of times, so the angle will not be the best at some points.

I hope you enjoyed these photos and the video!:)

A Day at the Beach- a While Ago!

Here are some photos from a trip to Newport Beach I took before the end of summer. I don't remember exactly when I took these pictures, but I like them.:)

There was this really cool boat that was floating around in the ocean. I think that it would be so cool to ride around in one!

The people of the beach and the pier. I think it would be fun to ride a bike on the pier.:)

This place has some yummy fish! And I love the fish sign up there!

I think that the following photos are from a different day at the beach.

The pretty blue sky!

This is a photo of my favorite burger place at Newport Beach. It's called TK Burgers, and they have really good burgers!

I hope you enjoyed these pictures of my day(s) at the beach!

Fourth of July 2013

Since I haven't written on my blog in a while, I have a lot of catching up to do! I found some photos from Fourth of July that I would like to share with you.

Every Fourth of July, my family goes to the car races with my grandpa and some of his family. It's a tradition. I don't always enjoy going to the races, because for the majority of the time, you just sit there and watch cars go around in a circle for hours! But we get up to get ice cream and pizza. Honestly, that is my favorite part! But here are a couple of pictures of the cars.

Emma and I got kinda silly. Oh, and my eye shadow was blue because it was the Fourth of July! Shadow art, courtesy of my big sis Lauren.

I saw this adorable little boy sitting in front of us, wearing these huge earplugs! It was so cute, I had to take a pic.

This car looked cool to me. It was painted with the American flag colors. I think that it led all of the cars in the first lap of one of the races.

My stash of books in my purse. I SOOO badly wanted to break one of my books out and read. But I've been slightly reprimanded for that in the past.

Excitement building! There was smoke coming out of one of the cars. I'm sorry to say this, but the only interesting thing that happens at the races (with the cars) is when there is smoke, or an accident.

Emma eating her shave ice- man, she loves her shaved ice!

One of the racers coming into the bleachers to accept donations to a charity. I think it was for cancer..

And that is basically my day at the races. But there are some things that I didn't show you- like my favorite treat at the races. But the Fourth of July isn't far away.;) I'll see what pictures I pick up next year. I hope you enjoyed these pictures of my Fourth of July!

Healthier Foods

Since this Monday, my mom, Emma, and I have been trying to eat healthier. We have taken sugar, bread, and most dairy out of our diets and are now eating REAL foods- nuts, veggies, fruits, and proteins (meats). So instead of eating things like this-

We're eating things like this-

I have to say, I thought it was going to be harder to give up my sweets, but it hasn't been! I think that if we keep this meal plan going for a while, we will see results; especially if combined with exercise.

Things I would like to see in me: clearer skin, a slimmer body, and better blood sugar numbers (I'm a type 1 diabetic). So far, I've only seen better blood sugar numbers, but I know that it will take more time to see a difference in the other things. Do you have anything that you would like to see differently in you?

Funny Observations

Here are a couple of random photos that I have taken recently.

This I found in an elderly folks' community clubhouse. Funny!

And this is weird to me. Why would anyone put "Thank You" on a label for meat??? Haha!:)

Yes, I know that this was all random, but I wanted to make a note of this. Thanks everyone!

Random Photo Collection

Hi! These are some random photos that I have taken over time, and I thought that I would put them into a collection to view. So, here we go!

This is a picture of my sister Emma's stuff. Her favorite color is pink, as you can see.:)

We have poodles (Hunny and Hallee) and I saw this guy walking his poodle down the street, and his dog looks like my dog! I thought it was cool because I rarely see a cream colored poodle, like my Hunny.:)

I saw this picture at Claire's, and I thought it was pretty cool. What would it be like to see someone on the street (or in the mall, or wherever) with a hairstyle like this?? But I think that it's cool and whimsical for a photo.

I found these dresses at a store called Lemoncellos. Oh, my, gosh, I LOVE these dresses!!! I love vintage things, and clothing is included in this statement. So whenever I pop into this store, I absolutely fall in love.

This was found in Lemoncellos as well. A little reminder for myself- and you too.:)

McKenna's Graduation and Barn Dance

On Wednesday, May 22, my best friend graduated from high school. So happy for her! I know that it's a bit late to be posting about it now, but I would like to record it anyway.

The party started the day before her graduation.:) I spent the night at McKenna's (my BFF) house and helped (sorta) set up. The next day, we got ready for her ceremony, and then drove to a nearby In-n-out to pick up McKenna's friend Amanda. Then we drove to the ceremony!

The ceremony was really humorous actually. There were so many things that were either annoying or funny that happened! Like this guy in a pink shirt behind us kept cheering REALLY loud for his sister's whenever they were mentioned. Speaking of those sisters, they were very talented and accomplished girls. The two of them sang the nation anthem for the ceremony and performed on their violins together. Their voices actually sounded very similar to each other, and their voices were this cool blend of opera and old fashioned. Super cool!

But anyways, during the ceremony, there were some things that really drove me nuts. Like the fact that the guy behind me (in the pink shirt) kept screaming for his sisters all the time. But he also mentioned how tall my BFF is. McKenna is about 5'10" tall, and she had decided to wear heels to graduate in. Her mom wasn't too hot on the idea (because McKenna's skirt length was a little short to be wearing heels in, in her mom's opinion), but McKenna got to wear the heels! So, that guy was talking about how tall she was! It kinda annoyed me. I felt like, "Lay off!" That same guy's cell phone also went off a couple times, even after the announcement about cell phones being silenced.

Another thing that was funny/annoying about the graduation was the fact that the slide show was weird. The slide show was made on PowerPoint, and the slides weren't working right. One minute, the slides would be going too fast, then the next minute, it would be stuck! And the music for the slide show kept playing on accident during the actual ceremony!

And last, but certainty not least, the air horn. There was SOMEBODY in the audience who kept blowing their air horn when someone they knew (I'm guessing) was called to graduate. BLEAH!!

Here are some photos that I captured during the graduation.

                                                            Fixing up in the bathroom.

                                                              Receiving a diploma.

Mom and Dad and Grad photo.

Mom, Dad, Grad, and Brother photo.

                                                                McKenna and I.

                                                               Time to get silly!!

After her graduation ceremony, we went to McKenna's house and prepared for her after party- country style! She had a barn dance in her giant RV garage for the reception. I will say, I was worried BIG TIME beforehand, because I knew that there is partner dancing at barn dances. I had never danced with a guy before, and I was freaking out!!! But I was taught the dance moves, and I was asked to dance by a nice boy named Donny (sorry if that's not the right way to spell the name).

All in all, I had a great time at the barn dance, even though I was really nervous about it beforehand. I really enjoyed hanging out with McKenna and her friends, and even though her friends are very different from me, they were very nice and accepted me (some more than others). Maybe I'll get to go to another barn dance sometime!

Here are a couple of photos that I took from the party.

The food table- and the pride of the city- the radio!

The girl in the orange is McKenna. And the redheaded kid is Donny.

You might think that it's weird and maybe kinda stalker-ish to take a picture of Donny, but I wanted to take a picture of him so that I would always remember the guy that I had my first dance with. And even though it may not be the best picture of him, I just wanted this.:) I am a very sentimental person, so I like to take pictures and videos of memorable events, so that I can re-live those memories. Are you like that?

I hope that you enjoyed this post! Bye!

A Day in the Life of Me!

These are some random pictures from a day in the life of me!

This picture looks like the spoon is holding the ball.:)

This is my room- before I cleaned it...

And after I cleaned it!

And this is my dog Hunny!:) So sweet...

And that's it! I hope you enjoyed.:)

Mini Tractor

Just a few days (or was it weeks?) ago, I saw the funniest thing- a mini tractor on a tractor tow! Or whatever that thing is called that carries the tractors and construction vehicles... Well, it was funny! Here are the pictures.:)

Sorry for the bad pictures, my phone doesn't have the best pixelation. Alright, so... Bye!:)
