During the past two weeks, I have gone to the beach twice- and both times on a Thursday! I've gone to Crystal Cove both of those instances, and I just have to say- it's my favorite beach! I love the adorable beachy vibe to it- with this one small restaurant on the beach, a cute little store actually called "The Store", and the pretty beach cottages, this is such a fun beach town to be in.
My first time being at Crystal Cove this year, I went with my mom and sister, and both my aunts and cousins from my mom's side. Today I went with my mom, sister, and another mom and daughter that we're friends with. I'm actually not much of a beach person, because of all the sand sticking to me, and the sticky sunscreen. I'm really fair skinned, so I get burned easily- like today, I put on the sunscreen, and I didn't even step outside of my shady spots for long, and yet I'm a bit pink in some spots! Must be the sand reflecting the sun's rays...
Here are some photos that I took from my first trip to Crystal Cove this year-

This is the shuttle that takes us to the beach. When you're carrying a ton of stuff (like beach chairs and umbrellas), you don't really want to walk the long path down the beach. The dollar spent per person is definitely worth it! I love the inside of the shuttle, because it has vintage photos of Crystal Cove on the upper walls, and sometimes big band music plays during the drive. It's such a fun atmosphere!
This is a view of us coming up to the tiny beach town. It's so beautiful there!
This is the ramp up to the bar of the restaurant. I've never actually been to the bar (because, you know, I don't drink.), but I thought this was still a cool picture.
This is a shot taken from the beach. The building to the left with all of the umbrellas is the restaurant. And the mint building on the right is... Um... I actually don't know what it is!
The ocean! The waves here at Crystal Cove aren't very big, which makes it ideal for families with smaller children or people who just don't like big waves.
This is the sign to the Beachcomber. That is what the restaurant is called. The wait to get in is really long, so we usually put our name in as soon as we get there, we get a pager, and then we hit the beach for an hour or so. Whenever other people are standing by the entrance to the Beachcomber, waiting for their turn to come in, I feel almost like when I walk past them and up the stairs, like I'm entering a special club that only certain people get access to- like in the movies, when people are trying to get into clubs without having their name on the list!
The one time a year that I get fish n' chips! So good.
This is a shot of the beach cottages here at Crystal Cove. I would love to stay in one of these for a few days!
This is the store. It is honestly called The Store. I like poking around here and seeing what kind of souvenirs they have.
This is one of my favorite souvenirs at The Store- Beachcomber blankets! When you are at the Beachcomber, there are these blankets at the tables in case you get cold. I would love to get one of these sometime, but they aren't exactly cheap.
As we left Crystal Cove, I took this shot of the sign. I think that this shot sums up a trip to Crystal Cove- it has some of the wildlife of the area, and it has some of houses up there on the hill.
If you are ever in the area, and you are an avid beach-goer, then I would definitely recommend coming here. Even though I don't love going to the beach, I have fun going here. I love making memories here with my family, and just getting to experience these days at the beach.
Have you gotten to go to the beach lately?
